The questions a founder asks

These are the moments where a CFO makes the difference.

How much runway do we really have?
When should we start our next round?
How much capital do we actually need?
Are our numbers investor-ready?
What happens to our cash as we scale up?
Which KPIs should we track, and which type of funding fits?

Runway check

Roughly how much runway do you have?

A quick estimate based on your cash and your monthly income and spending. Not advice, but a solid starting point for a conversation.

Enter your figures for an estimate.

This is an estimate, not financial advice. In a conversation we make it precise for your situation.

“Knowing how many months you have, and when to act.”

  • Burn rate & runway in view
  • 13-week cashflow forecast
  • Scenarios for growth or headwinds

Funding & investors

“Numbers and a story investors can trust.”

  • Investor-ready models & pitch figures
  • Preparation and guidance for funding rounds
  • Investor reporting & board figures

Growth & organisation

“A finance function that grows with you.”

Real-world examples

This is what the work looks like.

Anonymised examples from practice. Situation, question, approach and result.

Agritech scale-up
Situation

Professional capital on board, moving from product development to commercial production.

Question

Monthly reporting, reliable forecasts and an upcoming funding round, without the founder having to build it themselves.

Approach

Set up the monthly cycle, worked out the product's unit economics, built cash flow forecasts and handled the investor updates.

Result

Investor-ready figures and a well-founded funding round, with management information the team trusts.

Food scale-up
Situation

Founder-led company scaling a physical supply chain and preparing an informal round.

Question

A grip on working capital and stock, and investors who want to be kept in the loop each month.

Approach

Set up financial planning, working capital and stock control, and a steady rhythm of investor updates and reporting.

Result

A grip on cash in a capital-intensive chain and a completed funding round.

SaaS and health startups
Situation

Startups inside a venture builder, still without a finance structure.

Question

Administration, management reporting and steering per team, so founders could build on their numbers.

Approach

Set up finance processes and management reporting across the portfolio teams, with strategic support for the founders.

Result

A finance function that grows with the companies and makes decisions on current numbers possible.

How we work together

Flexible, exactly as much as you need.

Baseline measurement

We map your runway, numbers and most important decisions. You know right away where you stand.

Rhythm & reporting

We set up forecasting and reporting, with a steady rhythm that fits your stage.

Sparring on the big choices

Funding, assumptions, investments: I think along as a CFO, at founder level.

What it costs

Senior CFO thinking, without a full-time salary.

You pay for the level of thinking, not for loose hours. Every situation calls for something different: an ongoing role of a few days a month is a very different thing from intensive guidance around a single funding round.

That is why we put together a tailored proposal, with a clear rhythm and a fixed scope, so your budget is predictable and you know exactly where you stand. Curious what it would mean for your situation? We discuss that in a no-obligation conversation.

Frequently asked questions

Good to know.

How is this different from an interim CFO?

An interim CFO temporarily replaces a full-time CFO. A fractional CFO is a structural, part-time addition to your team, focused on growth, strategy and building out your finance function, at a fraction of the cost.

We already have a bookkeeper, do we still need you?

A bookkeeper keeps your numbers up to date; a CFO helps you make decisions with them. Those roles complement each other. Want it all under one roof? Confidato can handle the administration too.

From what stage does this make sense?

As soon as finance becomes strategic: you have investors, you are scaling up, or you are making decisions with a lot of money and risk involved. Early-stage startups that want to become investor-ready are welcome too.
